the guys weekend away... poker a must...
... so we head to the hills... 5 of us guys... no women folks invited... and Liam!!
A rough, tough weekend of manly bonding and belchin'!!
Poker night is the first night... we arrive, unload the car... immediately bemoan the fact that the place is so darn nice, decorated so well, with the largest rooms we have ever seen, and that it is just a crying shame that we didn't bring our wives and loved ones to share this bountiful offering with us (hmmm... manly weekend already going down hill!!) We proceed to the outside deck, wood fire a' roarin'... we ignite the aircraft carrier sized grill and throw on the steaks... we open the bourbon... we get the blankets (twas a bit chilly after all) and get out the cards. Then, twas time to cowboy up, eat steak, admire the manly view of mountains and woods... drink some more bourbon... warm our bones @ the fire... and get the cards out to bet the farm on the ol' devil, poker (texas hold'em I believe it was). We shuffle the cards six ways from Sunday, deal them vigorously (if not skillfully) and then suddenly realize that, that, that... not one of us knows the rules!!!! Our cell phones wont work and there's is too much bourbon in the belly to drive!! AARRGGHHHHHHHHH... So, we end up making up some rules, loosely based upon what we all remember from various John Wayne movies seen over the years, and end up having a blast and laughing our butts off!!
Ahh, yes, quite the introduction for the boy into the world of the "man alone," weekend environment... :)
Ian (more metrosexual that cowboy, if the truth be told!!)
